From that link:
Q1 2011 - 419 Licensed and 77 SORN = Total 496
Q2 2011 - 445 Licensed and 64 SORN = Total 509
That's an increase of 13 MCs this year; someone must be breeding them in captivity!/// Exdos ///

I'm not convinced that we can trust this data because if you do a search on the same site for "BMW Z3", it mentions the roadster and other variants, some of which seem contradictory but no mention of the Z3M coupe at all. Therefore the data on the link may be for the BMW M3 coupe, i.e. - the saloon type vehicle with a fast back (for want of a better description) and not the Z3M coupe.
I may be talking out of my hat and someone may put me right, because I have to admit to not really being a BMW aficionado at all so I know virtually nothing about BMW models and in 40 or so years of motoring, I had never owned or even driven one but in 1998, I saw the Z3 M coupe, loved the look and the performance and decided it was destined to be a future classic so I bought it (for my wife - of course!!!)
I've always been confused by my car's registration document which lists the make as "BMW" and model as "M3 COUPE" however, when it came from the dealer (it was their demo car) it was described as a "Z3 M Coupe". When my insures cross referenced the DVLA classification it came back as a BMW Z3 Coupe convertible!
When I speak to a BMW dealer I always have to qualify that I am speaking of the "Z3" version of the M3 and not the M3 (as described above) to which they always assume I am referring.
MaxI finally arrived at the light at the end of the tunnel only to find it was another tunnel with the light on!

Mines the same, M Coupe.
The figures quoted on howmany.... are based on the logbook, and there are many errors and deviations there, however i don't think the figures will be too far out, based on other posts about manufacturing data, and figures quoted in the media it seems plausible.
