  • Z3 V10 reborn...

    Hello guys,

Some of you might remember few years back there was one Z3M V10 build by a Bulgarian guy called Denis. Build thread

The car was initially build to compete in the Bulgarian rally championship and did few races before unfortunately Denis fell of a motorbike at a speed of more than 300 km/h. Thank God, he survived but this took more than 2 years to get him back in a "normal" state. During that time the car was left in an old warehouse and was sitting there waiting one day Denis to fire it up again. Sad thing is that Denis has still some problems with one of his legs and may never return again to real racing, or at least not soon, and as his recovery drained a lot of money they decided to put the car on sale (not officially).

About 3 weeks ago I was on a business trip in Gabrovo (a city in Bulgaria) and once my meeting was over I uncedenetally saw Denis and his father passing me on the street. I went to say hi and we had a little chat, were at some point he told me that he they are very sad as they have to put the car for sale...Which car I asked?! And they said the Z3...At that point certain memories of a screaming V10 started to appear in my mind and I asked if it would be possible to see the car...with no real intentions to buy it.

The car as mentioned above was sitting in an old dirty warehouse surrounded by thousands of old parts... As you can see from this image:

The car was not started for more than 1.5 years and yet very surprisingly for me it started from scratch we just added fuel and a battery...and that noise....

Long story short, after I saw the car I new I was going to buy it and a day later it came to Sofia (capital of Bulgaria) for a inspection which went well and now I am the lucky owner of this baby. We changed the bearings that were just in time for change (the car has 53,000km) and some other small bits and pieces.

As this project was done 5 years ago, not much info was available for S85 swap, especially in terms of electronics, thus the car has all of the cables and electronics from the M6 just sitting there inside

More pics and info is coming as I do bits and pieces of the car :)

I remember reading the project thread on this car and watching a few videos of it in action, the thing is absolutely brutal.

What are your plans for it? Whatever you choose to do good luck.

We should get a 2016 calendar to Denis

                  Welcome to the forum Dinko.

Can't wait to see how this project goes forward as following the other project from FabiZ3M has been fascinating so far.
Now two V10 projects to watch.

All we need now is one starting in the UK.

                    Welcome.

Great project car. This was posted on here a while back so nice to see it again.

There are a few interesting engine conversions in MC's and MR's around now, both in Europe and the US.

I only know of LS* conversions here in the UK so it's be great to see some others.

                      Thanks for the warm welcome!

This car was build for pure racing and I am going to use it for sorely for this purpose :)

The idea is to make it as reliable and as good looking as possible. In the upcoming months I want to get rid of all the unnecessary cables and bits that are sitting inside the car without any real purpose.

There will be a track day on the 21/22 of August in Serres, Greece and this will be the first real test for the car and also for me...

I am doing mainly minor upgrades and parts replacement. This weekend there will be the last track day for the year, so after that I will start researching what options I have for a custom ECU that works with the SMG box.
