  • 19" CSL Wheels will not fit, HELP!!!!

Hi guys, I am hoping there is a simple answer to this otherwise I will need to sell these wheels after waiting so long to get them.

I bought a set of genuinine 19" CSL alloys to put on my bloved mc. I put on 275/30/19 on rears and 235/35/19 on fronts.

I went to get them fitted today however the fronts wheels do not clear.
does anyone know how to solve this issue, will spacers do the trick or do I need to do something else

    help me out here guys

Depends where it doesn't clear? If it's the strut then a spacer should help.

well I am not too sure not being very technical however there are 2 areas were it kinda needs clearenc.

1, it might be the strut, its were the springs are mounted on
2, when locking the wheel to one side it also touches the underside of the car.

      confused??? I am!

Do some searches '19" wheels" etc etc.
I am sure a couple of other people have had 19" fitted.

It sounds like you definitely need some spacers, especially with wheels/tyres that wide!

Maybe go take a look on one of the American forums as they seem to enjoy fitting stupidly large wheels to their cars (Bimmerworld would be a place to start). Failing that call up an alloy wheel specialist and see what they think about spacers etc.

Who's fitting the wheels... you? If so it sounds like you need to get it to a pro and doing right!

I am not fitting the wheels, I went to a local tyre place who put the tyres on the wheels and when putting the front ones on he noticed that there was not much space between the strut and the tyre also at full lock the tyre would touch the inner arch.

I am sure that there was a member from the forum who had the CSL wheels with 235/35/19s on the front, I just need to know what size and tyoe of spacers are best suited

surely someone's got to know or have done this before.

Memory working subconsciously - try shunt and chris i.e. look at their photos in the gallery. Shunt had 19"(?) on a roadster - chris on a Z3MC.

You'll find that if you have 18" wheels and 10mm spacers, that they will also rub the upper lip of the wheel arch liner, as do 19" wheels with 10mm spacers. You'll get rubbing somewhere with bigger wheels.

I seem to recall one of the posts saying something like 'I had the lip of the wheel arch ground back a bit'.
Don't panic, there's always a way around these problems if you have a bit of patience and keep doing the research.

AND PM broccers to pass on an email to gazbrown from you.

I have now pm'd broccers following your advice.

I have just been on the phone to Drivers in Glasgow who specialise in performance and tuning in Glasgow, they are not no keen to give me advise and more interested on where I bought the wheels and who suuplied the tyres, he sounded a bit cheesed off. He said that I need to book the car in and leave it with them to check it all out. They charge almost £50 per hour to look at the problem and could not tell me roughly how long it will take, only then he can tell me what I need to do.

what do you guys think, should I book it in or wait until someone here can give me info I need or try a couple of other performance dealers..

Sorry not me the 19's came on the Z4 Roadster S as standard, however my old MC got some 19" BBS rims from it's new owner, they went on no problem. I'd guess your problem is the CSL wheels are the wrong offset.

If you don't get any joy in fitting them I might be interested in buying them off you for my looky likey.
