  • Cat D for sale

    Hi Guys,

Just looking thru PH's classified's and wondering what your thoughts on this was:

    http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/233315.htm

Have emailed him for pics of repairs and extent of damage etc.

    Regards,
    Baz.

Would be good to see the original damage pictures as that will probably be a good guide to how detrimental it could be to the car's condition now. If all 4 wheels were pointing at wierd angles I'd be inclined to give it a miss, but if it was cosmetic/body damage, light front end etc then it should be ok if repaired properly.

Why buy a cat D for that price when you can buy a good one for a couple more grand!?

        Yeah Dalecan,
I'm back on the hunt as it looks like I have my other BMW sold(fingers crossed). If so I'll have about 14 maybe 15k at a push to spend this week coming. I'd like a 2000 Silver lowish mileage(50/60k). I'll be putting around 14k on it this year and thereafter only about 6k a year.

Again I'm not getting my hopes up until cash is in hand on friday.
        Regards,
        Baz.

          Hi Guys,

embarrassing as it is to admit, but that car for sale is the car I crashed! If anyone wants any info on what happened to the car then please PM me.

          Cheers
          Ian

I do have 1 or 2 pre repair pics somewhere but might take me a few days to track them down as my GF's Dad has them on his camera I think. I'll post if I can find them.

                      CAT D is:

Category D - Repairable salvage. Minimal damage, probably not structural, but insurer does not want to repair, even though it might be economic to do so. Often stolen and recovered after claim has been paid. Or for unusual models or grey imports where the difficulty of obtaining new parts hinders a quick repair. Does not need VIC inspection to return to road. Recorded with HPI, AA, and the like.

Sold my car this morning. Now I have the cash to splash. Anyone know of a nice 2000, lowish mileage MCoupe for sale. I know of a few on PH's and autotrader but obviously if someone on here knew of a nice one it would be a bonus and appreciated. Price around 14-15k.

                        Regards,
                        Baz.
