  • HID's awesome

Had HID's put in last saturday by A1 Performance, Team valley Gateshead last Sat, difference is amazing compared to standard Cost £260 in total but with the nights drawing well worth it

Ps... They have a GT40 on their premises advertising their business, it looks amazing.

I'm really interested in these as I'm not keen on the performance of the oem ones. What's involved in fitting them and how bigger difference do they make?

The OEM lights are old technology and inadequate.

      Do a search under 'hid's'

The ONLY downside I have is that it interferes with my laser diffuser when headlights (as opposed to sidelights) are on but unlikely that you've got one anyway.

          markolambo,

How long did they take to do the whole job? What sort of pre booking time needed? I go past Team Valley quite a often on the way up/down to Newcastle airport so may drop in at the end of the month on the way back home to Teesside.

I left the car with him for a couple of hours and went shopping with the wife next door at Sainsbury. Car was done when I got back.
I had booked it in the week before though, not sure if you can just turn up. He has loads of good stuff in his shop, worth a look if you are passing.

The difference is major though. Came back along the A69 on a poor night this week and the lights gave off a very intensive bright white light that pooled wider and longer than the standard.

HID kits are easy to DIY install... no real need to outlay for having them "fitted" unless you prefer to leave car electrics well alone!

So what brand/temp of kit did you go for? Will be looking at upgrading the lights on my Coupe soon as like everyone else I think they are sh!te

                Group buy anyone?

If a few of us want these is it worth organising a group buy?

I changed my lamps over to H.i.d.s a little while back now and yes of course they make a big difference! i fitted them myself no problem i kept putting it off as i didnt want to start cuttting wires etc..but i didnt have to as the kits come with the correct conectors, and the Ballasts sit underneath the lamps...theres plenty of room underneath once the units have been removed ! as the beam is now longer and brighter i needed to adjust my beam setting ! however my lamps adjuster has seized !!!!!! and the adjuster is part of the unit...so i now need to get new complete headlamp units !!!!!! So the upshot is i would certainly check that your adjusters are working ! the one ime mentioning is the manual adjuster and not the in-car electric unit !....by the way replacement lamp units from the steelers are ridiculously expensive ! so if anyone knows of a cheaper alternative ,,i for one would apreciate it.....

forgive me for being a bit dim but...

What exactly are HID's are they just a different type of bulb or are they more like zenons?

                        They are xenons.

                        They run a ballast/igniter.

Your not being dim Jules...sometimes all these abreviations etc do get confusing !! you certanly aint alone ! when looking at variouse different lighting systems etc....i think the confusing part is people advertising brighter lights ! these are just higher wattage and coloured blue ! hids are as above, best in my opinion.(xennons)hope this helps..

Seeing as I'm probably the last person I'd let near my car's electronics if a group purchase was arranged could this include fitting too?

If you can fit a bulb you can fit these kits; most essentially fit by plugging the headlight plug into the HID wiring then the ballast wiring goes to the new HID bulb in the headlight.
