  • M coupe on wikipeadia

just read this on wikipeadia - thats not right is it. what about BENs car ? thats not had it engine replaced has it ?

just goes to show wiki is not always 100% reliable

"However even the most carefully maintained S54 M Coupes eventually require their motors to be replaced. Most often BMW agrees to replace the motor on a case by case basis. There are no known S54 Coupes that have reached 80,000 miles on the original motor; however BMW has been vigilant in replacing the motors at no cost to the vehicle owners."

Ben's did double that mieage AFAIK.

That statement could be taken two ways because it might be just that there hasn't been an S54 do that many miles through lack of use! not because the engien doesn't last.

perhaps someone on here that is a member of wikipedia could edit it. that could potentially put a lot of people off the cars when in fact is a lie !

i might investigate changing it but not sure what it involves

The 80.000 miles is a lie but the list of Z3M/C suffering from Bearing shells failing is increasing...mine has just joined that list...

It's as hard as pressing "edit" and typing some new text. How's this:

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M_Coupe#2001_-_2002

              ?

I'm sure that Exdos can add to that, based his correspondence with BMW on the matter. In particular, I wasn't aware of BMW UK committing to a 100k 6 year warranty to cover the issue. Maybe that's a US thing.

I believe, from what I've read that it applies only to US/CA.
