i know this topic has most probabl been covered 100000 times

looking to space the rear out by 10m, but leave front as it is?

has anyone done this, or recommend anything different?? good or bad idea??

    comments appreciated

I run mine like this normally but it does look better with 10mm all round as the front needs some extra track width, if anything, more than the front in terms of looks. Reason I don't normally run any at the front is that one of my wheels has some runout which can't be felt wihout spacers, but as soon as I add them (even though they're hubcentric) for some reason I get wheel wobble.

is it normal to maybe run 10mm on rear and 5mm on front??

c_w - interesting about the problems you have at the front. I had some Eibach 10mm spacers, and they didn't quite fit. The centre of the wheel hub protrudes just slightly too far and prevents the face of the spacer from sitting flat on the face of the hub. It's only very slight but it's noticeable.

Maybe you had something similar, if not quite as pronounced?

I ran 10mm Eibach hub-centric spacers all round with no problems whatsoever. To my eye they make a great difference pushing out the track width and giving the car a more aggressive look.

10mm on the front (or at least 20mm if you have swapped the top mounts) and 15 or 20mm on the rear. Looks so much better.

My front wobble is caused by a slightly run-out on my right front wheel but I forgot about this spacer problem! I had the same and mentioned it on here when fitting mine (for both front and rear) but nobody else seemed to have the problem (but I can't see why not as the cars should be exactly the same as should the spacers).

The centre hubnut dust caps stick out too much (in fact the rear on mine was a bigger problem as it wasn't just the centre dust cap). Once you prize this cap out on the front (dead easy with a flat blade screw driver) they sit flat and proper on the hub. I did the same on the rear but still the spacer "rocked" slightly on the spigot and wouldn't sit flat (but was only a tiny amount) so I took a file to the spigot and gave it a bigger chamfer until the spacer sat squarely on it.

This is my original post about it; http://www.z3mcoupe.com/forum/showth...ghlight=eibach

I forgot about all this and wonder why mine (and now it seems yours) has this "problem" when other people haven't? Could it be that people are running with a gap between the spacer and the hub and the wheel bolts have just tightend it up against the spigot(!).

I always make sure that the hub surface is completely clean before putting a spacer on, but on both the MC and E91 (both have spacers all round), I've never had a problem with H&R spacers (or Eibach iirc) using either the 10/15mm or 20mm versions (both hubcentric).

It is strange that some are different to others, normally stuff like this should be exactly the same due to exact tolerances.

What's the cheapest place to get Eibach ones from?

Also i'm guessing 10mm is 10mm each side, so a total of 20mm wider track?

As Chris said, Europerformance. H&R's are generally slightly cheaper but still high quality aluminium.

Oh - and don't forget longer bolts! They are included in the kits 20mm(?) and thicker (as they bolt to the hub then you use your regular wheelbolts to bolt the wheel to the spare). Europerformance sell the longer bolts too (Grayston is the make). Factory length is 25mm (measure thread length) so you need 35mm if getting 10mm spacers (obviously! )

Thanks for your help guys :)

I was thinking about 10mm front and back? Seems like the norm anyway.

Yea 10mm all round is good for a flusher look. If you do got with 10mm ones I'd be interested to hear when it comes to fitting if they fit flush ok on the hubs or require the dust caps removing on the front. It's only about 0.5mm out; the spacer might look like it goes on ok but it can be "rocked" on the spigot rather than sitting square against the hub face. But it seems some cars don't have this problem.
