  • Alarm ... Goes off on startup ...

Hi all, first post but I have lurked for a while!
Got a 99 coupe and after searching the posts have disconnected the bonnet switch while I get another however I don’t think this is the problem.
Car locks and unlocks fine with the remote, and runs fine most of the time. Occasionally when I unlock it and get in the alarm starts to sound as soon as the engine starts. Once this happens the car still runs fine but I can't stop the alarm without disconnecting the battery, the remote has no effect.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Should the alarm not stop the engine or is that immobilisation taken care of by the key/chip?
Any suggestions would be great as I have tried everything I can think of and can't use the car at the moment, don't want to be driving round with the alarm sounding!
    Thanks.
    Matt.

      Thanks h4pry,

Not sure but I think I may have fixed it

On Sunday I took both doors and tailgate to pieces and cleaned the connectors on all the actuators with contact cleaner and the ones at the front of the doors onto the body.

I think the actuator cables also have some sort of signal cables back to the alarm to show the state of the doors, maybe the slight build up of corrosion was causing a bad signal, the passanger door was the worst.

At the moment no more false alarms and I can use it again without the alarm sounding as soon as the engine starts!

Would still be interested to know if the car should run when the alarm sounds, I think it should cut the engine with the imobiliser but it doesn't seem to.

      Thanks,

      Matt.
