  • OEM parts suppliers - brake discs/pads

Just been quoted £460 by dealer for fitting new front discs and pads. Reckon its an easy job to do myself so has anyone got recommendations for any better (i.e. cheaper) suppliers of OEM parts than the dealer?

I hesitate to broach the subject of pads given the healthy debate that has previously occured but here goes. Given that I don't do track days, the car is a lightly (though not necessarily slowly!) used second vehicle and is in original condition, is there any benefit to using other than OEM pads? I don't currently have any issues with them.

Mate, just do it yourself, not a difficult job at all. 460 is a crazy price for not even an hours work.

Theres a link on here somewhere to a really good guide of changing front discs and pads so do a search. It's done on an m roadster if i recall.

As for suppliers, eurocarparts or GSF. Euro car parts have updated their website, miles better than the old one.

This is a step by step guide for the M3 but it's the same basic procedure for any car.

            Paul's guide was fab.

The only problem i had was opening the caliper bolts, you may require a power bar.
In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.

Yup, intending to do it myself - been most of the way before when painting the calipers and Paul's guide confirms it's an easy job.

Thanks for the part suggestions - will check on prices.
