  • What tyres are you running?

My MC is running Marshalls at the mo and to say they are terrible is an understatement so im going to change them. I have had Falkens reccomended and have had good experiences with avon zz3,s what are your thoughts and reccomendations/ suggestions ?. I have a set of m3 evo wheels with r888s for trackdays so they are just for day to day and the occasional spirited blast.
    TIA

The rear evo wheels wont fit - so I assume you just mean you will just rob the tyres off them, rather than run them on the MC?

    Anyway.

Best all round tyre for me is Conti Sport Contacts.

My favourite soft-compound road tyre is the Toyo T1R, although they will wear fairly quickly. But they are so grippy, I love them.

Well they may physically go on, but the ET is about 3.5cm shorter each side, so your entire track would be just under 7cm slimmer! Plus it would look odd as each rim would be sunk into the arch by quite a margin.

I also meant to say, Falkens are perhaps the best all rounder for the money; for their price, they punch well above their weight in terms of performance. My brother hoons about in a tuned 130i, with a Quaife LSD , and he loves the back-end out action. I got him onto Falkens, as he goes through rears like they are going out of fashion, and he rates them as highly as his previous preference - Toyos.

Make of that what you will.

I use Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 which I think are now out of production being replaced with Assymetric.

I had michelin PS2 on previously which were brilliant but pricey.

Next time I'll go for Falken 452's

Ive run conti's but have recently replaced the rears with Falkens..needed to be scrubbed up a bit..but now are probably better than the conti's in both contact and most certanly value..new falkens going on the fronts tomorrow...

The new Asymetric F1s are quite good. I don't think the old GSD3 suits the Z3M so well.

Mine had Conti Sports on it when new but not sure which exact pattern. I didn't really rate them, low dry grip and in the wet too.

Always Michelin pilot sports PS2 - OEM and work fine.
S54 Titan Silver metallic. Black leather, most factory options including sunroof, Becker Cascade and Becker Silverstone changer.

Ive never used any other tyre than a michelin ps2 on my zmc and on my previous car a bmw 330ci. They work very well for me.

Fair enough, but then you are without the luxury of being able to compare... So how do you know there are not better out there for your driving style and budget? ;)

                          Just a thought...

                          On my previous BMWs I have used;
                          Avon ZZ3s
                          Falken 452s
                          Toyo T1-Rs
                          Toyo T1-Ss
                          Continental Sport Contact 2s
                          Continental Sport Contact 1s
                          Michelin Pilot Sports

IMO the best for fast-road driving are the Toyo's and Falkens, although for all year round performance and longevity under normal driving, ContiSports are a better choice.

Your right i havent compared them with anything else. I probably should try something else and i do like the look of the good year aysemeitric which my friend has just put on his car so i'lll see how he gets on with them first. As ive been happy with the ps2's and i feel i cant trust them ive decided to stick with what i know for now.

That's completely fair enough mate; if they work for you, why change? I was just trying to fuel the discussion and provoke the thought.
