  • Decent footpump anyone?

The most boring thread of the month.....

My dual barrel Michelin one just gave up after a er, slipped foot destroyed the gauges, but it's always been a bit crap, with stupid bit's that fall off etc.

Can't seem to find a decent one anywhere on Amazon - they all have people slating for various reasons.

So, has anyone on here got one they can stand by or shall I just get a bicycle trackpump?

I've got Argos best, used it fairly regularily to check tyres without any problems. Had it for around 3 or 4 years and still going strong, only thing is I would use the gauge on it as a rough guide only, final readings taken with a decent Michelin pressure gauge. Also got to ensure correct seating of connection onto tyre valve

Gets a few bad reviews on the site, but for only a tenner, you can't complaint it depends also on how you use them, i.e. level ground, good footing etc. If you are liable to want to blow lots of tyes up get an electric one to plug in cigarette lighter. I've had one of those also for about 10 years which I occasionally use. Argos do a range of them aswell.

For some reason I've always found double barrel pumps poor and a good single barrel has always been better for me. Probably worth it as free air at petrol stations seems to be a thing of the past and it's not 50p, pricey if you have a few slow punctures like on another car I use!

Oh you've got me going now! I'll need a bit of time now to look through the site and the links on there. The price of some of the stuff is amazing on the http://www.petroliana.co.uk/Classified.asp site. My late father used to be in the motor trade and I was brought up in 50s & 60s working on the garage forecourt operationing petrol pumps like ones they are advertising (they got hauled away for scrap!!) + give a couple of shots of Redex. A bit of nostalgia.
