  • E46 M3 Rasp on a Z3M???

Is it possible to get that metallic rasp that the e46 M3 produces?

I assume its got alot to do with the single piece box section on the exhaust??

Planning on doing this next week, need to order the straight pipe section from jetex, I dont suppose you remember what diameter the pipe is at that location? I would measure it myself but I dont have any vernier gauges.
Does yours drone on the motor way at all?

Does the S54 Coupe not sound like the S54 m3 then? I used to love the sound of my mates e46 M3 especially when doing the kick down on the smg.

I dont know in all honesty, it sounds different to my old s50 but the stock exhaust is very quiet unlike the e46 m3. I've always assumed they would sound different because of the rear box design...

The s50 has always sounded more deep throaty less rasp even with aftermarket setups. I really need to hear an s54 Z with some different setups than stock

Awesome sound, I really like the raps!

Are you sure this is just from cat-delete? Middle muffler also gone? And stock backboxes? I had some similar rasp years back with e36 m3 when I had a defect pipe to the backbox and decat aswell :)

Offtopic, those wheels are rc302, right? Good choice

Don't think from memory there is a centre box on the Z3M?

That link to the decat does sound very nice! I have heard they can lose power/torque without the cats fitted? Is this true? How does it drive?

I think the rasp is generated by the back box on the M3. It certainly seems to disappear if this is changed to an aftermarket one.

The S54 MC does not sound like the M3 at all. Sounds pretty much the same as the S50 - probably as its got the same exhaust fitted.

I know its not a Z3MC but if I could have an exhaust from a BMW it would be this.....pure filth!!

I can't remember the diameter but if you look at my resto thread you can see pictures of it. It does not rone at all. Other than the rasp, It sounds almost stock in all rpms.

It is only cat delete. Rest of the entire system is stock. It is still a little too quite for my taste. Might find out a true rasper after a bit more try and learn attempts.
RC 's are originally my track wheels for my E30 M3 and they were on the MC while OEM set was painted Shadow chrome.

S62 E39 M5 motor according to another of their youtube clips.

They claim 600hp from it in the same clip. It looks N/A in the video so either it's had some serious tuning work or they're a tad optimistic.
