  • Air Con Compressor Screaming

This summer I'm having no end of trouble with my Aircon, I've already had 2 regasses, a new condensor, a new drier and new seals. Apparently my compressor is now knackered with the main bearing failing and screaming and whining.

BMW want >£400 for a new compressor but this one's on ebay fo £50:

    Would it fit?
Is buying a secondhand compressor to be recommended?
BMW want £70ish to fit it, is this about right?

Any help and advice much appreciated...

It should fit, being off an E36 M3 as practically everything off that is the same even the condensor. I'd say it's worth a go, or get one from a parts breakers which would mean it'll come with a 30/60/90day warranty.

If you put your details in these websites they'll come back to you online/phone if they have a part with a delivered price.

I'd stick with saying E36 M3 though, saying a Z3M might mean they'll add a bit on! They'll usually be a competitive price because they know it's going out to 5 or 6 other breakers/BMW specialists at the same time.

Worth trying it for rear diffs too instead of buying one off ebay jokers who want far far too much

Yeah I tried, firstchoice parts who do a similar thing. I also rang FAB BMW breakers and a company called Cheltenham Radiators who do a replacement compressor.

Have to wait and see who comes back with the cheapest parts now.
