  • Suspension refresh

    Hi all

I've bought some Bilstein B8s for the rear from ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2912553616...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I plan to get some Bilstein B8s for the front, and the H&R ARBs

The only remaining question is springs and top mounts.

As far as I can see, I have 2 options for springs:
    1) Buy new springs for the front which will match the rears from the eBay auction. Only problem is I have no idea of the brand and spring rate
    2) Buy a set of H&R springs. German eBay appears to be cheapest, but not sure of fitment

For top mounts, Rogue Engineering seem to be the standard. They are awfully expensive for what they are! Any cheaper alternatives

I'm hoping this suspension refresh will cure the creaking from the rear

i did a full refresh with B8s.. H&R springs ..top mounts were OE quality and with the advice of my indi ordered these as he reckoned the rouges were a little to harsh for road

the combination of the B8s and H&Rs do make a very firm ride as it is... .iv never tried the rouges so cant give you a comparison ....but if its going to spend its life on track then rouges all the way

Are there different h&r spring rates or are they all the same?

Spring pads, maybe, depending upon their condition.

I also replaced the nuts and bolts holding everything on that you're replacing, just in case I had any trouble getting them off I had a new ones ready to fit

I have found the Rogue top mounts fine for road use and in no way harsh, there are some details on the forum of how to make your own set up for much less.

like i said Dave i dont have the comparison ....just going off what Darren said.
but TBH the full refresh just transformed the car.
mine was still on the original set up so well worth doing

                  Hi Swamper

Sounds like you've just installed what I was looking at.

So how low is it with the b8's and h&r's? I'm concerned it would be too low for my liking.

                  Any pics would be great.

                  Cheers

Many thanks Swamper, that looks perfect, just a bit lower than stock but not stupidly low.

Got the springs, B8's on the way

                      Thanks again
