  • Alarm problems - Bonnet switch?

    Hello,

My alarm is going off 1 -2mins after being set. I have been told the likely cause is the bonnet switch which may need cleaning/oiling. I think I have identified it but if anyone can confirm please let me know

    Again crappy camera phone....

Almost certainly the bonnet switch. Replacement is around £10 from a dealer, and takes about 5 mins to fit. Did mine last year, as I was keeping the neighbours awake

My alarm went off for no reason early on Monday morning so gave it a good squirt of wd40 and checked the movement of the bonnet sensor and up to now its not gone off again. The price of a new bonnet sensor/switch is now over £30 from BMW

Dave, my experience was that once it started to play up the only solution was to replace it. Hope the WD40 works for you though!
