  • Help - car wont start!

    Morning (not a good morning!),

the MC wont start . Doors unlocked fine, all dash lights are on as usual, radio came on, hence seems like battery isn't an issue (had a new one on not long back anyway) but when I turn the key, absolutely nothing, not even a click. All I can hear is what I assume to be the EEC fan.

    Any suggestions?!?!

    Starter motor?

If it's not run for a few weeks, could still be an undercharged battery.
S54 Titan Silver metallic. Black leather, most factory options including sunroof, Becker Cascade and Becker Silverstone changer.

Try the obvious first - tighten battery connections. Any clicking noise from starter solenoid?

I had similar symptoms last year but it would happen when I was out and at the most inconvenient times (refuelling) but after a few attempts usually would fire up ! Changed starter motor (not easy job) but find ever since.
          Good luck.

            Cheers!

AA man has been and got it running again. He confirmed 12V live to starter and 11V when called upon (apparently) and all good, including from exciter/solenoid.

He therefore resulted to a decent sized hammer, a gentle tap on the side and its running again! After my approval (as cant get the car to a garage at present), he turned it off and having tried several times, its fired up every time since.

Maybe time to consider a new starter......
