  • Trailing Arm Bushes

I'm having a quandary about rear trailing arm bushes:

Real Oem shows two part no.s

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=33_0998

    08 SET RUBBER MOUNTING ECCENTRIC D=30MM 2 33329058822

    08 SET RUBBER MOUNTING D=30MM 2 33329061945

I assume its one of each per trailing arm?

Which one fits innermost or outermost?

No, it's 2 bushes per side but you can choose to fit the eccentric ones if you need to try and tweak geometry (but from the factory it will be 4x standard bushes, 2 per side).

It might be worth having the rear geometry checked at a tyre place and getting a print out of the camber and toe angles, and then work out if you need to tweak them at all. The problem is the eccentric bush will be fixed so you've be guessing to some extent how much different you'll be making.

I'm planning to add and adjustable camber and toe kit to my subframe, this entails fitting 4 of the standard bushes but use eccentric bolts that rock like cams on the tabs on the subframe to adjust the position of the arm.

As Chris says the standard bush is part number 33329061945 and you need one set per side so 2x will give you enough bushes for both trailing arms. I think they are about £25 a set but Meyle ones can be bought off ebay for around half this.

Just to add, with the eccentric ones, you could just fit one eccentric bush in a particular location to adjust the arm; the outer bush alters toe and the inner bush alters the camber most effectively.

Many thanks. I'll put the standard ones in. I'll keep the others back incase wheel alignment becomes an issue in the future.

As part of the work going to be done underneath the car this summer I'm going to be replacing the rear trailing arm bushes. There is a set on eBay,

But as Dave says the Meyle ones are half the price. Are they pretty much the same except obviously you pay another 50% for the BMW name? If so do these look like the correct Meyle ones?

I would get the Genuine BMW ones, they last forever. The bushes on my car at 135,000miles were like new.

Meyle seems to have a decent image but it's not uknown for some of their stuff to not compared with OE (water pumps). For the amount of labour and faff to change these parts the difference in price is neglible.

Agree with C_W. Of the zed we've pulled apart, the trailing arm bushes have been in great condition. They're tightly surrounded by metal, unlike the subframe bushes, so are highly unlikely to go off. I didn't replace mine when I did the rear end refurb
