  • Rear wiper stuffed

    Stopped working yesterday.

3rd time in two years. Before I've just had it fixed under warranty (wiring I think) and then a whoel new motor.

Had a 10 second mpoke in the dark just now but suppose you have to take the whole of the inside of the boot off to get to it?

Any one done this? Roughly how long a job is it?

    cheers.

You could think about removing the rear wiper as I've always thought the hatch looks a lot cleaner/better without it - I'll be taking mine off and filling the opening with a plug so it can be refitted again.

Here's an example on a US MC

I saw an M3 in that recently and it looked like a dodgy 60's bathroom suite...

I'll try and see what the prob is and I might take you up on that.

Well, in all the snow and rain mine stopped mid-cycle (bloody annoying) today. I don't know whether it's a connection or the motor - I'm guessing a connection given how it stopped, but I'll have to have a look when it's not p!$$!ng it down (no garage here). Anyway, if it is the motor, have you still got it, or did it find a home somewhere else?

Out of interest, I've seen a couple of comments about wiring looms costing £800 + fitting as the problem. It'll come off before I spend a grand on a rear wiper, but are there any linked issues if it's to do with the wiring loom?

if it is the wiring loom, it can usually be repaired - its usually at the point where the wires go between the body and the hatch (inside the rubber hose at the top left of the hatch) which break due to fatigue from opening and closing.. it'll cost a lot less than £800 to repair :)

Oh, and you might see other problems if the wiring loom is broken (but i guess it depends which wires are broken), for example, the boot might not lock with the central locking
