  • Valuation Up Here in Scotland?

I'm wanting to have my car (well nearly mine) valued so that I can get an agreed value insurance policy. The prospective insurer has asked for a letter from a specialist on headed paper, as well as 6 photo's of the car.

The photo's obviously aren't an issue but does anyone know of anywhere in Scotland (preferably Glasgow/Edinburgh) who could value my car?

I've already asked a BMW dealer, and the only specialist in Glasgow I know of - Hart Motors. Neither can do this for me. Munich Legends will be able to do it but understandably suggested that it would be more of a ballpark figure without actually seeing the car in the flesh.

    Thanks!

I cant help with the actual question but I have just renewed my insurance with Classic line and was able to agree a value myself - they ask for current pictures and charge an admin fee but no one else is involved

so it may be a option if you cat get anyone to do it for you. BMW Car Club GB also offer a service I believe.

Indeed I've tried Classicline, but they require that the car is garaged and not used as my main car. As I don't have a garage and it will be my only car, that's causing a bit of an issue for most agreed value insurers.

Adrian Flux has quoted me what has turned out to be a fairly competitive figure (although still very high) but with a £2000 excess.

I've insured and indeed made a claim through this other company before, so at least they're a known quantity.

I've used Elite Inspections on a couple of occasions when I've been buying a car and they will give you a valuation as well as a very detailed inspection report.

Not cheap, I think it was something like £400, but the inspection might pick up on some issues prior to purchase, or put your mind at ease, as well as giving you a valuation.

Dougie was the chap I dealt with at Elite and I'm certain he lives in Scotland. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly chap.

            Thanks guys!

Car bought. I'm a happy man.

I ended up going with Adrian Flux, mainly because I'm planning to use the car regularly and can't be sure that I'll do less than 5000 miles per year.

I bought it form a family friend who's a bit of a BMW enthusiast so I'm very happy as to its condition.

Meant to say - Adrian Flux only require various photos rather than a formal assessment by a specialist.
