  • Don't hate me.....

At this time of year a petrolheads mind turns to what car you could buy.

How about a Bentley continental gt?

They aren't too dear and could look good alongside the coupe. The only thing that is putting me off is what appears to be repair costs that make the coupe look cheap...or are they so reliable that they don't go wrong often?

The cycnic in me thinks they are cheap because they go wrong so often and expensively.

    Has anyone owned one?

    Yes.
Tyre pressure sensors are about 500£ each
    Power stearing hose cost 300
    Electric window motor about 500

I had a 2004... some say better than 05!as were hand built,
You need low owners and bentley history.

When I came to sell it I had evrey wanker in the world want a test drive.

My view..... u ain't gonna loose much on the right car.... but they need to be looked after

I'll add to the challenge, you have to choose a budget bracket:

      Less than £10k,

      £10k-£30k,

      £30k+

      I'm thinking about my answers...

Partly depends on the image you wish to project. New one = loads of money, old one = wanabe. Just my humble opinion of course!!

            to 10K - wide body Z3 2.8.
to 30K - S54 MR (look good along side the MC).
            Over £30K - second S54 MC (for polishing/investment purposes).

I think I might lack imagination!

1 - possibly a 6 series convertible to replace the roadie.
2 - This was the Bentley territory that started the thread. But maybe a 850
3 - Way way way different to the coupe. Shelby Mustang

                  To £30k - B7 RS4
                  Over £30k (within reason): F-Type

back to original post, I also thought about the Bentley as the second or family car. Relatively cheap to buy but was put off in the end on three reasons:...
                          1. It's an expensive VW
                          2. I don't own nearly enough Barbour, peaked caps or corduroy
                          3. I couldn't face swapping a wardrobe of hoodies, jeans and baseball caps for 2.

So I bought an Audi s4, a slightly less expensive expensive VW

I should have bought an s54 and had the wife n kids ride the train. With the price increase in s54s they could have ridden first class, ha.
