  • Third brake light bulbs

    Hi guys,

I'd been putting it off for a little while now but the number of bulbs on the my brake light are now starting to annoy me. I understand that the bulbs are soldered to the board, and I've been quoted £5 something per bulb from BMW.

Has anyone replaced theirs from somewhere other than the official ones from BM? Or should I just get the ones from them?

They are a normal bulb I think but they have bent "tails"

I'd use the BMW ones. Never had a failure - likely famous last words!
S54 Titan Silver metallic. Black leather, most factory options including sunroof, Becker Cascade and Becker Silverstone changer.

They are a stupid price for such a small bulb,as Dave say's they have tails which go thru the circuit board, its a shame that someone couldnt convert to led's but each bulb has a seperate compartment in the actual lense.

Thanks guys, I'll give BM a call in the morning and order some in.

Just another quick one some of you might be able to advise on - do you know why, when looking for headlight bulbs, everywhere will show me H7 bulbs when I type in the spec even though, as far as I know they're HB3/HB4's?

H7 are for ZM, HB3/HB4s were for regular Zeds - don't ask me why.

Better check yours first, as I know a case where the damaged light units were replaced with used ones from normal Z after a slight front crash. Unless you are absolutely sure nothing ever happened to the front of your car of course.
            Best Regards,

            Pawel

Not true, HB3/4 in my car and other Z3(inc M) headlights I've had.

I have heard of some rare cars having H7, perhaps very early cars?

Check the front lense on the car, sometimes it's marked there.
