  • Throb.....

    guys, had the car out today and noticed that when at idle my car has developed a low level throb like a heartbeat, it is a bit like the car is alive like the transformers mustang. No viagra in the fuel tank

    Off to get it check out tomorrow, any ideas.


    Car sounds ok otherwise.

      Check out the MAF sensor, as this can often cause a 'throbbing' tickover.

        Car booked in for Wednesday, Thanks for the guidance re the MAF ,

        Is it likely any damage can be caused driving it for 11 miles to the garage if it is the MAF or is it just an annoying thing that causes no damage.

          I can remember listening to a recording of someone's car (on here??) a month or so ago, which had a similar throbbing that you've got. It sounded very much like the "beat frequency" that you can get when there are two different sounds at different frequencies as explained here:

          I doubt if there's anything wrong with your car.
