my QP was built for japan. So my tailgate are the japan version. Now i want to modify it to the EU version.

    Has anyone ever done that?

Iam not sure if some parts will fit...so happy to listen your feedback

Lock will be the problem I think so may be easier to replace the complete panel?

Yes sorry should have said lock position will be the problem, euro lock assembly looks to be different part number to Japan version

Any used tailgate you buy is likely to include the lock and handle. How to get it to work with your key, though, is another matter - no idea.

Will just be a case of changing the barrel I suspect, but I can count on one hand the times I've actually used the boot lock manually!

As above the best bet it to get a euro tailgate.

              Yap, that’s the point.

But c_w is right. It’s enough if I can open the tailgate with pushing the „button“. The rest will do by the central lock.

I will try and give you feedback (if I get a tailgate).

                I have one request:

Can somebody measure up the diameter of the lock button at the rear ?

That will help to save a lot of money :-)

                Thx!!

                  The OD is 22mm.

                  Hope this helps.

Is 22mm the same size as the Jap version?

                      Jap, it is. Checked today.

I will try to modify it in the next days. Hope, that a lot of the "old" parts will fit, too.

                        Hi Folks,

iam finish and can say its possible.
Dont ask for it. Its a lot to do and at some points handicraft.

Costs round about 1.100€ including paint job and new rear window (without round about 850€).

Unless your battery goes flat, then you need the key to work/turn the barrel to get in (and gain access to the battery.

I guess you could apply power to the charging terminals under the hood...
