Boot floor / differential carrier failure! photos

    Does the car make any specific noises when this happens?! I know mine has the typical M-car differential noises, but I'm new to the M-coupe. I'm having the differential and transmission fluids replaced this weekend so I will inspect for this *crossing fingers*

    What's the percentage of cars that experience this and is this fairly common?

      Stud,if you search on here you will find loads of pics where this failure occurs,it starts with a crack in the sound deadning material on the left hand side of the boot floor!

          Neat...I have done the visual inspection and there are no cracks, but I assume the damage starts from the bottom up? In which case I was wondering if any creaking and/or metallic noises are heard.
