It just seems an odd thing to do really, especially when it must be a false economy because are you say, lots of 997s starting from £20k.

Just popped into my local Porsche dealer, got some really nice kit in with a few turbos but i would take the GT3 RS; cage, fire extinguisher and some very comfy hard backed buckets really making you think it needs a damn good thrashing!

thing is, most of the conversions are done on the crappest cheapest examples (and damage repaired etc) so for the people doing it, it works out well (the conversion parts are cheaper than buying new genuine parts, and they most likely do it for a living so everything is at cost price, labour etc...) however if you wanted to do it to your own personal/straight/well specced car, its just not worth the hassle, as it will kill the realtime value, and be a pointless exercise as you will struggle to sell it for a good price.

found it!
this is the nicest 996/997 conversion i have seen so far:

i cant remember the price, but im sure it was more than £20k
and it was a C2 to begin with.
however it did sell!
but guess it cost a lot more than £20k to make it look that good

the rear still didnt look perfect (exhausts and cutouts bit crap ?)

but with the badges replaced with just simple black '911' script, and a decent private plate, im sure it would look the bollox!!!

That does look pretty good actually! Love the GT style front bumper, for saying its only a small black slat between the bonnet and bumper it really sets them off.

also spotted this, a proper 997 C2S (3.8)
seems a fair price at under £27k with the kit on

most of the standard ones look a bit crap. i think the wheels could be better (never happy ) but fair deal (sure theres others similar in price range and spec/looks out there too!)

the difference in the front end on the GT/Turbo (996) is similar too, with the black nose piece (and bumper) does look much better, and makes a world of difference (expensive world of difference too )

i think if youre into kitting up a 996, be better off making it look like a 996 GT2, than any kind of 997 (panels will fit better ) more wallet friendly, theres ready made kits for them already, and i think the 996 GT2 is one of the nicest looking 911's around!!!

how can you argue with that?

Now we're talking, fantastic looking car, very few cars could beat that for menacing looks of "move outta my way"!

How much are the GT2 style kits for a 996 Turbo?

i dont know exact figures, but looking around its still not cheap

im sure a while ago i added it all up to being around less than £2000

i think it can still be done in that kind of budget, but theres so many different kits, and most of the "recommended" sites (misha ?) dont seem to have prices listed, so could be £200 or £1m

best idea is wait for the right one to come along all readily done

there was a cat c repaired one on autotrader at £19k with the GT2 kit, techart rims, alien seats etc.

its listed back on there now at £16995 minus the nice body parts and wheels!!! (i think the bits were genuine, and they cost thousands!)

id imagine someone has taken them off the recorded turbo, to be used on a nice straight turbo or something like that!!!

997 turbo wheels look so crap on the 996

That white leather is far too pimp, looks awful!

The GT2 kit looks good though, really suits the fried egg headlights.

That makes it worse, alcantara is for racing, not for being a pimp!

Alien seats would be no good to me though, i need to seats in the back!
