Default Bad Dealer - Williams BMW Manchester

So on Saturday I phone to book an oil service and a mechanical check for today and £138.68 is quoted.

I am a new owner (3 months now) and apart from the oil change I wanted to know all was well with my new motor (I just love it, what a car!).

After the service the patronising servicing girl says 'Ok that's £206 then'

err..no it's not.

After refusing to pay this insanely inflated price, a new price of £154 was brought up from seemingly thin air.

again - err..no I'll pay £138 thank you very much

Some keyboard tapping later and another price of £138.06 is produced.

It just seems they lure customers in with one price, carry out the work, then demand more! Crazy

On a positive note - Apart from the cold reception (it was as if I was an inconvenience) they wouldn't even let me talk to the guy who did the service; I only wanted to ask him a couple questions for gods sake! Eventually she did bring the technician to me and in fairness he knew what he was talking about and I was happy my car was taken care of.

I think you're right about low prices quoted over the phone, there have been a lot of people saying they've been quoted widley varying figures for different services (from around the country).

It was a long way to travel for a service though!?

I'm up at my parents house at the moment for the christmas/new year period so I'm only 20 miles from Manchester, so it's not too bad. But yeah MK to Manchester is a bit far for a service!

Theres quite a few good indie's up here but I couldn't believe how busy they are at the moment (some without an opening util the 7th!) everyone is probably getting their services in before going back to work, like me.

Next time try Ian Anthony in Bolton, cheaper than most and friendly reception staff. Halliwell Jones & Williams ae next to useless, and border on being rude. It infuriates me these services staff adopt the BMW aloof attitude.

yeah makes me laugh they think as they work for BMW they are somehow better than you but most of them couldn't afford a bmw themselves !

Some however are really good - sytners in high wycombe were very good when I bought my M3 - turned up in sports gear in an old fiesta and absolutely no problem in taking out an M3 for a test drive an no attitude either. The sales guy was then rewarded for his attitude with a sale.

Also sorted out the problems I was having shortly after buying the car and even payed to have all of the wheels refurbished by a 3 rd party as I wasnt happy with their own efforts.
